FAYE WEBSTER
Underdressed at the Symphony Tour 2024
Designer // Programmer // Visuals

Faye Webster wanted her Underdressed at the Symphony Tour to be laundromat themed. We leaned heavily into this inspiration, integrating rows of custom-built, light-up laundry machines, a giant t-shirt-shaped projection screen, and so much more!

The laundry machines, designed collaboratively by me, Sam Krause, and Carisa Ibanez of Kowboy, were used as the bulk of the stagelighting and set-design for the show, and were designed around housing Robe PATT 2017 luminaires within them. Several LED battens lined the fronts of the washers to light the fascia itself. Additional battens were hidden behind the washers as well to light the racks of shirts hanging above.

Robe PATT 2017's were a perfect fit for this production. Not only do they look just like a washing machine door, and are the exact same size, but they can be programmed to mimic a washer spin-cycle as well!

A giant t-shirt projection screen hung in the center of the stage on a massive coat-hanger (Yes, the shirt really slid onto the coat hanger like a real one!).
The visuals, also designed by me, depicted themes of laundry, water, soap and bubbles in many different forms.

Finally, 6 high-output bubble machines were programmed to blast the stage and the audience with thousands upon thousands of bubbles at key moments in the set, adding the final touch to the soapy laundry theme!
